The GateKeeper ® Catheter for patients
Why GateKeeper?
Understanding the GateKeeper® Catheter Technology
Precision placement
Dual-Balloon system
Our patented double-balloon technology temporarily isolates the cerebral circulation, capturing and removing embolic particles before they can reach the brain.
This approach significantly reduces the risk of post-procedural strokes, offering peace of mind to both patients and healthcare providers.

Big questions simple answers
TAVR is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a narrowed aortic valve without open-heart surgery. During TAVR, a new valve is delivered to the heart through a catheter (thin tube) inserted typically through the groin. This procedure is an alternative for patients who are at high risk for traditional open-heart surgery.
During Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), a CEPD is used to capture and deflect potentially harmful debris that may break loose during the procedure and prevent it from reaching the brain. This helps in reducing the risk of stroke.
The device is placed in the path of blood flow to the brain during TAVR. It captures and deflects debris such as calcium, tissue, or blood clots that can be dislodged during the valve replacement.
Using a CEPD significantly reduces the risk of stroke associated with TAVR procedures by preventing debris from entering the brain circulation. This enhances the safety and overall success of the valve replacement.
Patients undergoing TAVR, particularly those at higher risk for stroke or embolism, are candidates for using a CEPD. Your doctor will determine if this device is suitable for you based on your individual medical history and procedure details.
Many insurance providers recognize the importance of reducing stroke risk during TAVR and may cover the use of a CEPD. However, coverage policies can vary. It’s recommended to consult with your healthcare provider and insurance company for specific details regarding coverage.
Yes, the CEPD is designed with patient safety as a priority. It is under currently under investigation to be used for TAVR procedures and has FDA clearance for peripheral vascular occlusion. The device is minimally invasive and has been shown to effectively reduce stroke risk without added complications.
